Description
Viva la Vida, Watermelons (1954) by Frida Kahlo is a powerful celebration of life’s vibrancy. The bold, lively depiction of watermelons conveys a sense of vitality. This was the last painting Kahlo created, consciously aware.
Prominently inscribed on the central melon wedge is the phrase “Viva la Vida,” meaning “Long live life,” a poignant and hopeful declaration at the end of her life.
