Mickalene Thomas: "I want more people to have the opportunity to become a collector. And this is a way to do that, making really high quality prints that are unique, an extension of my practice, that anyone can own". 

Mickalene Thomas used a 35mm disposable camera to capture a series of photographs that inspired Maya No. 10. The photos feature Maya, her muse and former lover, taken in their Brooklyn home and basement studio on Lexington Avenue.

Portrait of Maya #10 reflects Thomas’s vision of feminine beauty and empowerment, exuding sensuality, elegance and allure. The artwork explores and challenges conventional ideas surrounding gender, race, sexuality and femininity, offering a nuanced and thought-provoking perspective on these themes.

Preferrably hand wash to preserve the water resistant coating. Machine wash at 30°C in a washing bag, to prevent fibres entering the wastewater.
