It’s important to note that the cuckoo sings automatically for 16 hours and silences for 8 hours. To keep the clock silent at night, you must insert the batteries for the first time, keeping in mind that it will silence after 16 hours and will start singing again 8 hours later. For example, if you insert the batteries at 7:45, it will chime at 8:00, 9:00, and so on for the next 16 hours, with the final chime at 11:00 PM. It will then remain silent until 8:00 AM the following day.
